Hill AFB, Utah: The Center of Pride and Honor (IEA-Installation Excellence Award)

Having been a resident of Utah my entire life, it is such an honor to see what amazing things are happening in our beautiful state. If you haven't read this in the newspaper, read it on the internet or heard it on the news, Hill AFB, Utah has an incredible opportunity to receive an outstanding award.

January 30th, 2008 marked a very proud moment for Team Hill  as they welcomed Team IEA (Installation Excellence Award) to the South gate of Hill AFB. Joining them for the exciting welcome was Governor Jon Huntsman, Jr., Mrs. Utah, Davis High School drum line and many others from surrounding communities to bring in the spirit and support to Team Hill.   Being 1 of 2 Air Force Base Commander in Chief Installation Excellence Award finalists shows that Team Hill, which consists of active duty, civilian and contractors are highly motivated in meeting the utmost professional standards.  As Maj. Gen. Kathleen D. Close, Ogden Air Logistics Center Commander states, “Team Hill Flies, Fights and Wins Together as America’s Best.”

The Installation Excellence Selection Board (IESB) will be in Utah from 1/30 to 2/1. During that time they will be touring the base to see the many areas the make up Hill AFB, the people working there and the products being produced.

There are a number of criteria that Team IEA are looking at:

  • Improving the work environment and quality of life
  • Enhancing the productivity of workforce
  • Increasing customer satisfaction
  • Encouraging outstanding individual efforts
  • Promoting energy conservation and environmental safety

What an honor it will be for the winner of the IEA (Installation Excellence Award) which includes $1 million, an Installation Excellence Trophy, Installation Excellence Flag and a letter of congratulations signed by the President. The runner-up will receive $500,000 for future base improvements.

As Team Hill awaits the announcement of which base wins, the State of Utah will be anxiously watching out for the news and sending many, many wishes for you to achieve that tremendous success.

Lastly, I want to say Thank YOU to everybody at Team Hill for standing proud, standing strong and representing the United States and the State of Utah with great honor.

For the full story please refer to the Hill AFB website and find a whole lot of inspiration to support the amazing men and women that are apart of Team Hill.

May God bless each and every one of you!

Hi Julie - nice post! You do such a great job!  I'm sorry I missed your phone call on Wednesday, I was doing my duty taking a Professional Standards required class so that I can serve another year on the Professional Standards committee.  I WILL make it a point to be around when you are in town...I got that e-mail when I was sick and it just dawned on me I never replied to it.  Just remind me of the dates!

Julie

Great post! That is quite a place. I was reading that it has the largest fleet of F-18 jets, and an article about helicopter article about bravo air.

Sounds like a great state.

Hope all is well.

Sincerely

Tom Braatz

Julie, thanks for highlighting Team Hill. I love the focus we can all put on our local backyard and distribute it to the rest of the country. Kind of like me looking over your shoulder reading your local morning newspaper.

Hey Julie that's awesome! My sister (a pilot) spent time at Hill. I (as a student) sent some time further south. As Arizona warms up I love to take the occasional trip up to your territory. Oh, unless the powder is nice, you'll find me there in the winter is well.

Gary: Thank YOU for your wonderful comment. I love our military and they should be acknowledged for everything they do for us and every accomplishment they make. It does feel great to get the localism out there and let people know where Utah is. I also am like you, I quiet enjoy reading up on everybody else's localism posts because we learn so very much from it. We are quite a few steps ahead when clients are in need of information from another state. Have a fabulous week my friend and thank you as always for being so supportive of my writing.

Chuck:Wow! That is fantastic that your sister was here in Utah at Hill AFB and for yourself, Utah is the place right? :) Southern Utah is beautiful. Did you ever get the chance to head to the National Parks? Thank YOU for sharing such a wonderful comment and have a fantastic week.

Grace: Thank YOU so much!  I do love Utah and all the diversity in climate and atmosphere it has to offer. You can be in the Northern end of Utah skiing and such in the winter and head to the southern end of Utah and enjoy the spectacular views of the National Parks. I hope you have a fabulous week!

Karen: Thank YOU very much for you acknowledgment. Have a fabulous week!
