St. Johns County 2013 beach driving passes are now available at pre-season prices! The passes allow you to drive on and park in the sand at several St. Johns County, FL beaches. If you routinely bring chairs, surfboards, tents, toys, or coolers to the beach you are sure to appreciate parking just steps away from where you will be spending the day. Through March 1, 2013 season passes are $30 for St. Johns County residents and $40 for non-residents; after 3/1/13 the prices will increase by $10. Alternately daily fees for beach access are $6/vehicle for residents and $7/vehicle for non-residents. Season passes are available at Recreation and Parks Offices, Tax Collector’s Offices and the St. Johns County Pier.
St. Johns County is blessed with more than 40 miles of beautiful sandy beaches for swimming, fishing, picnicking, searching for shells and shark teeth, nature-watching, surfing, biking, horseback riding or just relaxing. From Ponte Vedra Beach in the north to St. Augustine Beach to the south, depending upon what kind of beach experience you are looking for there is sure to be one that suits your needs.
In season, lifeguards are stationed at many of the beaches and several have public rest rooms and showers. Some beaches allow horseback riding with the purchase of a permit. Permits can also be obtained for 4x4 driving, commercial fishing and hosting weddings or other special events.
