RESA Staging Conference 2013 Were you there?

RESA Staging Conference 2013 Were you there?

This Vancouver Home Stager had a blast at the recent Real Estate Staging Association (RESA) Conference, held in beautiful San Francisco.  I have to say first off, that the Canadians rocked the house!  We had a large contingent from Canada, from sea to shining sea, and we definitely made our voice heard... even over Texas (Karen Otto...)!!  We couldn't help ourselves, and broke into song, with "Oh Canada"!

The RESA Conference is a wonderful way to keep up with staging trends, stay motivated, exchange staging stories with like-minded Stagers, and build our businesses.  It was a thrill to have ActiveRain's David Ames, Realtor® at Zephyr in San Francisco, talk to a room full of Stagers, and impart his wisdom and advice on the real estate and staging scene.  Together with Jim Colhoun, also a local San Francisco Realtor®, Stagers were able to ask questions on how to create and maintain great relationships with their Realtor®/clients.

If you ever get a chance, you have to hear Terry Watson speak at your next real estate convention.  Terry Watson is not only entertaining, but he gets his message across loud and clear.  I still have images imprinted in my brain that I will never forget, including a giant monkey on my back that I need to toss off!  Repeat after me... "that is NOT my MONKEY!!!".  I tried to get a photo of Terry Watson, but he never stops moving!  It must be all that coconut water he drinks!  There were too many great speakers to mention, but suffice it to say, we were not disappointed.

One of the main reasons I attend the RESA Convention is to reconnect with Stagers I have gotten to know over the years.  Where did I first connect with the majority of North American Stagers?  Here on ActiveRain, of course!  ActiveRain bonds us and lets us get to know each other, even before we've actually met in person.  To others it sounds weird, but you know what I'm talking about.  Here are some photos of my favourite ActiveRain staging peeps.

The RESA 2013 Staging Conference in San Francisco was all it promised to be and more.  If you missed this year, for whatever reason, do yourself and your business a favour, and plan right now to attend next year.  You won't be disappointed.  A huge thank you to Shell Brodnax for organizing another stellar event.  We will see you next year!

Oooh, look at all those glamarous staging ladies whooping it up in San Fransisco. That looks like a lot more fun than the real estate conventions. You guys have all the fun.

Sharon - I know you're super busy with staging plus family.  Hopefully, you can make it down the road.  Would love to meet you in person!

Malcolm - Maybe you can volunteer to be on the Realtor® panel of experts.  Then you can whoop it up with we Stagers and party like it's 1989 1999!

Sharon - Were you at the Market in Vegas while we were at RESA?  If so, I can't wait to hear what's hot this year.

Roger - It just wasn't the same without you there.  But you know that.  Maybe next year?...

Maureen - So glad we were able to catch up at dinner on the last evening.  I agree.  David is an amazing speaker and shared tons of valuable information.  Hopefully, we can convince him to speak again next year in Vegas!

Joanna - You were sorely missed.  I'll be going through my notes and creating a "to do" list, as there's much to take action on.

Here sipping my coconut water and munching on chia seeds I hope to employ a lot of what I learned at this convention from so many!

Sally what great coverage! It was a great convention (my first) and I could not agree with you more, meeting up with other fantastic stagers, hearing what their business successes and challenges was insipiring. I think a must go to for everyone in the business.

Karen - Too funny!  I'm so sorry I missed you.  Would loved to have said 'hi' at the Conference.  There was just so much going on.  Loved Terry Watson and what great advice!

"ITS NOT MY MONKEY!" I have said it 3 times now and always makes me feel better ;)  That was the best conference ever. So great to see you my friend... we had lots of fun together. My favorite part of each conference is seeing all my staging friends and meeting the new ones. Glad you were able to spend some time in Napa... Cheers ;)

Kathy - It was awesome!  We appreciate all you do with helping out at the RESA Conference.  We will definitely have to chat more next year!

Lori Kim - Ha ha - I love saying "That's not my monkey!", reaching behind me, and throwing that devil off my back!  I agree.  The speakers are wonderful, but at the end of the day, what keeps me coming back is the great networking with all my Stager friends!  Actually, we were in Sonoma, and yes, that was a great end to a wonderful trip.
