The O.C. city of La Habra is located on the Northern boundaries of Orange and L.A. counties.  Not to be confused with La Habra Heights in L.A. County, La Habra is a bedroom  community of primarily single-family homes on nice size lots, in great neighborhoods.  The realization of the American Dream of homeownership.

  • Located in northern Orange County the city size is approximately65,000 in population and became incorporated in 1925.
  • The city was also the official home of former U.S.President, Richard M. Nixon's very first law office.
  • Dotted with tree-lined streets, the over all geography includes approximately 7.3 square miles.

La Habra is known for many things, and also famous for the wonderful Children's Museum. La Habra Kids Museum

The mission style building to the left was completed in 1923 as the Union Pacific depot, It was later donated to the City of La Habra in1956.  Today is it a focal point for youth in the city, with interactive displays.  Children can become involved with touching and experiencing exibits to their hearts content.

The former Pacific Electric depot is now located right next door and today it has been converted to the Depot Playhouse featuring local productions. The city is also well known for it's local Boys and Girls' Club.

Earlier days of the area included Basque sheep farmers in the 1800's. Then nearing the end of the century, the late 1800's the area became known for double "0-0's," oil and orchards. It's said Valencia oranges from the city filled up to 2,000 rail road in just one season. In addition La Habra was well know for the avacado production and home of the Haas variety.  The richness of the La Habra Valley continued for many years.  Eventually with growth in Southern CA, builders were eager to develope the wide open spaces of the community.  Alpha Beta established La Habra as their headquarters in the early 1950's. Later other business and industries followed.

Today the cityis an experiencing positive productive commercial growth with the development of the area at Beach and Imperial Highway, the Westridge Golf Course and the newer Costco at Beach and La Habra Blvd.  The overall development has contributed to the economic tax base of the city. ...and special thanksto all those Costo & Wal-Mart shoppers (please keep spending your $$$ here) who pay their fair share of sales tax in La Habra!

Nestled in North West area of Orange County, La Habra like many communities  is a wonderful patchwork of great neighborhoods.   La Habra remains a wonderful community, and a great place to live!

Interesting article on La Habra. I had no idea the population was over 60,000. Just didn't seem that large based on the area the city occupies.
