The real estate industry can be tough. If you’re not dealing with high maintenance clients, you’re running to the next showing or listing appointment. And when you’ve returned all the emails, calls and texts for the day, you’re sitting down to tend to your social media, website and other office tasks. Weekends are never “free” and your days go far beyond the typical 9 to 5.
In fact, you’re far more than an agent or broker. You wear a number of hats including:
- Blogger
- Stager
- Social Media Guru
- Marketing Executive
- Office Manager
- Financial Consultant
- Event Planner
- Community Volunteer
- Negotiator
- Peacemaker
- Photographer
- and much more! (If you have more to add to the list, leave a comment!)
All that to say, we know you’re busy!
On a daily basis, our team of Real Estate Virtual Assistants work with our clients to help them handle the myriad of jobs that demand their attention. We understand the stresses that come and work to make our clients lives a little easier.
Today, we wanted to share a few tips that will help keep stress at bay! One of the worst things is to add stress to your list of things to deal with and taking preventative measures can ensure life runs a little more smoothly. Here are a few tips to keep in mind!
1. Make Time for Friends- When we’re swamped, the thing that often gets pushed to the back burner are our relationships. But, having at least a few good friends that you can unload to, laugh with and relax with can have huge health benefits! A 2010 Brigham Young University study found that a lack of social relationships is comparable to smoking in its negative health effects. Yet, when interacting with others, the brain produces oxytocin, a hormone that can help lower blood pressure.
2. Take Time to Recharge- Taking a few minutes to refocus in between tasks on a busy day will help you recharge. Stepping outside to get fresh air and sunshine can boost your mood and give you a fresh perspective on tasks that need to get done. Taking time to go to the gym is also highly beneficial as the endorphins produced from exercising help decrease stress hormones in your brain. Don’t have time for a full workout? Walk outside for a half an hour during your lunch break or make stretching a part of your morning routine.
3. Make Meals a Priority- Running on empty, or multiple cups of coffee, can cause an afternoon crash that leaves you lethargic and feeling less than motivated. A good, protein rich breakfast will give you the amino acids your brain is craving in the morning. Skipping the most important meal of the day will cause foggy thinking and slower digestion, and can trigger stress.
Hopefully these tips are a good reminder of what your body and brain needs in order to have a healthy, happy and (nearly) stress free life! We know there are a number of real life pressures that come up on a daily basis, but doing your part will cut back on unnecessary stress!
You already have a lot of things on your plate; don’t let stress be one of them!
