Don't Forget Valentines Day ~ February 14th

This is one of my favorite days of the year and ranks #2 behind Christmas. It’s a holiday honoroing love and lovers. This is a day for Cupid and hearts.

Curiously, the day flourished in the days of Geoffrey Chaucer. The holiday is named after two among the numerous Early Christian martys by the name of Valentine.

Women purchase about 85 percent of all valentines… we are the true romantics of society. I usually get a dozen red roses from my husband and a box of chocolates.

My grandchildren will give and receive valentine’s cards at school. I do hope they send me one… I really love the one’s they draw and color themselves.

Mike Huckabee upgraded his marriage vows on Valentines Day in 2005. He says on his website… “No other candidate has supported traditional marriage more consistently and steadfastly than I have. While Massachusetts was allowing homosexuals to marry, I got a constitutional amendment passed in Arkansas in 2002 defining marriage as between one man and one woman. I got Arkansas to become only the third state to adopt "covenant" marriage. My wife Janet and I upgraded our vows on Valentine's Day, 2005. Today, many churches in Arkansas will perform only covenant marriages, so I'm hoping we'll see a decline in our divorce rates.:” Mike Huckabee’s Website

Jan, I would like it (Valentine's Day) if women didn't "expect" the roses, chocolates, and dinner.

I want to do something unexpected on a day when nothing is expected.

Jan ~ Thanks for the Valentine's Day info, although I did kind of know already that women purchase a higher percentage of valentines ; ) I used to love Valentine's Day at school because we all made "mailboxes" for our desks and went around delivering our valentines.

Bill: If you are married or have a girlfriend, you had better come up with at least a card. Expected or unexpected, Valentine's day is for lovers... you gotta do something or else you are going to be in some deep trouble.

Kathy: I those little Valentine's Day boxes that we had at school were so cute! When I went to school, they were all hand crafted. Today, they cost $5-$10.

Bill: Whew! You had me worried there for a minute. Yes, the expectation is there, you'd better believe it!!

A timely notice Jan! A woman never forgets, but the fellas do tend to. I used to always remind the guys I worked for and with - often right up to closing of work the same day, they were thankful to be reminded!

Yeah Jan - what's with that? I have to say I have had some very nice Valentine days, but I am single and have been for some time. I don't have the disappointment of disappointment! It is a lovely day to celebrate for the simple reason of gratitude.

Deborah: Love can be found other places too... you don't necessarily have to have a soul mate or lover. Give some valentines to your family, friends and co-workers. You are right, a simple reason of gratitude, is a reason to celebrate this day.
