Purina vs. Meow Mix. Which will win the taste test?

I've been feeding my 2 cats (Jackie and Blackie) Meow Mix. And, they've been very happy with it.

BlackieBut, lately, I've gotten very annoyed at my Grocery store...they stopped carrying the right size bag - the mid sized bag.  So, I've been forced to buy a smaller bad 3 pounds or a very large bag 13.5 pounds...too heavy for small me ,and doesn't fit well in my car or small kitchen (I live in an apartment).

So, I buy the small bag.  I get annoyed that I have to pay more per oz or pound or whatever.  But, what annoys me more is that I run out of food too often and then I'm in a bind.  (I have several moist food cans as back up and they prefer that anyway).  Anyway, I got really annoyed when I got home Friday night after buying groceries before the storm and realizing when I got home, that I was almost out of cat food.  I've been using the moist food...and, of course, they are loving life.

purina vs meow mixThis afternoon, the roads cleared up so I made a special trip to the grocery store for more cat food.  A special trip for my babies...and I don't mind doing it for them, but annoyed at the store/Meow Mix.  As I was on the phone w/ Ginny Gorman, I spoted a mid sized 6.5 pound bag from Purina.

So, it's taste test time!  Half the bowl has Purina and half has Meow Mix.  The cats looked curious and knew something was up as I prepared the bowl.  Jackie started off as if she was going to go for the Meow Mix, but then moved to the opposite end and exclusively ate the Purina.  I'm not sure if Blackie has eaten yet...he just wanted to cuddle.  I went back and some more of the Purina was gobbled up, so not sure which one of them ate it...I will have to stay on the look out.

Not sure what I will do if they disagree.  Since they are brother & sister, I'm hoping their taste preference is similar.  I'll report back later.  Oh, and yes, I will twist the bowls to make sure there is no advantage or disadvantage based on side of room.

Debbie, actually mixing 1/2 and 1/2 is a better way to introduce them to new foods - less chance for upset tummies.  So, your "taste test" is actually a blessing in disguise.

Our cats won't eat it. Even the neighborhood community cats that we also feed. However they love Science Diet.

Debbie, I can see why you would shy away from that 13.5 lbs bag.  That bag is about a big as you are ..... LOL

Hope you the results with the cat food are what you are hoping for :)

Debbie, with the weather you guys are having, you need a couple of cats to cuddle!  My guess is they'll love the Purina.

Jeanne & Ralph - cats are finicky and they have different tastes.  Funny, isn't it?

George - I know LOL...I said the same thing to Ginny!

Patricia - Yes, that's for sure.  So far, Purina looks like the winner.  When I woke up, more of it was gone and it looks like the Meow mix wasn't touched.

Mark - Yes, only my 2 cats can be the judges.

Tom - Thx.  So far Purina is in the lead!
