THE MOST UNIQUE REAL ESTATE EXPERIENCE!

House

I have my own home currently on the market.  Experiencing what my Seller's go through is a good reminder that the process of selling a home can be stressful.  Keeping it clean, ready for showings and disappointing offers all add to the stress level.

So, this past weekend we had a showing and the "client" looking was a fellow real estate agent.  They currently live nearby on the same golf course in a home by the same builder!  The homes are only a few streets apart.

The agent comes to see the house on Friday and by Friday evening is wanting to bring her husband by to see it.  Being that we are both real estate agents, we agree to all meet Friday evening to sit down and discuss a potential offer.  We agreed that with this situation, sitting down face to face was the only way to go.

By doing this, we were all able to relax a bit and just talk through the negotiation.  It was a very pleasant experience.  And, the good news is that we now have our home under contract!  How awesome is that?

This is a great reminder that sometimes doing things in a different way can yield great results.  Knowing the parties involved, the agents and the situation might call for doing a negotiation a bit differently at times.  We can get stuck in our same old pattern of doing business.

This was a great lesson to me to assess each negotiation differently and look for ways to get to a win-win for all parties!  I am that agent that will work creatively to get a deal done!  Getting out of our comfort zone is sometimes the right thing to do!

Indeed this was a a unique real estate experience as well as a unique real estate transaction!  Working together by all parties involved is a wonderful thing.  Selling real estate is not rocket science!  It takes cooperation and often times creativity!

Paula, when I sell my house one day, I hope it's as equally cooperative. Congrats on this one.

I swore at my closing never to move again. Especially with family in tow, moving can be stressful.

Thanks Tammie.  I hope you have this experience as well.  Sure was a good thing for us all.

Doug - yikes thanks for reminding me of the moving!  Oh well, it gets us on to our goal.

Paula, I've wondered for a long time if we get in the way with the way most deals go.  I'd love for buyers and sellers to have the opportunity to sit down and talk privately about the potential deal.  Representatives should be present to help the process along, but I think what you did could work for non-agent clients.  Congratulations.

Hi Paula, When we get ready to sell our home, I hope things will go a smooth as your transaction. Sitting down face to face with the other agent was very unique.

Thank you Mike and Jerry.  I do believe that with this type of cooperation, we could get many more deals hammered out.  May not always be the way to go but there are often cases where I believe that this would be best.
