Frederick Road Fridays in Catonsville - A new venue for 2013.
Catonsville is known as "Music City" in the Baltimore area. There are plenty of music stores along Frederick Road to supply local musicians and in the summer there are free music events.
The VERY POPULAR weekly summer event, Catonsville's Frederick Road Fridays, finds a new home for 2013
After 6 years of attracting increasingly larger crowds, the weekly free concert series is moving across the street to a larger lot, the Catonsville Chamber of Commerce recently announced.
Here is my "Guitar Hero" at one of the concerts last year.
Crowds as big as 1,000 had been squeezing into a small parking lot on Egges Lane but will now have room to grow in a parking lot at the Mews on Mellor. This area is just a 1/2 block from the original location and means local roads won't need to be shut down for the event. This event is family friendly and community embraced! We have spent many a summer evening dancing and enjoying this event which many residents can walk to!
Another big change - the chamber will have a liquor license allowing it to sell beer and wine, according to chamber president Sally Griffin. The plan is to have a different local non-profit set up the beer/wine booth each week. That non-profit will set up, sell, clean up and then keep the evening's proceeds for their organization. Sounds like a great way for the chamber and Catonsville residents to support local community groups.There will also be a booth selling food from a local vendor as well as food available from Peace a Pizza whose restaurant is right next to the music area. A win win for residents and local business.
This summer's series starts Friday, June 14th - I'll bet the non-profits will be lining up to run that booth!
