You may not realize this, but when you move to Oregon you need to transfer your license plates and your
driver's license within 30 days of arriving. If you don't, you maybe in for a nasty surprise like one of my recent
clients from Arizona!

What happened? Well she had been here for 2 months and didn't bother to change her license and her plates,
but did change her insurance. Then she was pulled over for something, I'm not sure what, but the officer asked
for her license and proof of insurance. Well the insurance card was dated 2 months prior with her new address
and her license wasn't.
So, she got a nice $200 ticket for that, first thing. Then the officer went back to his car and ran her license and
had some bad news! She was about to get her car towed and another $400 ticket. Why, because her license had
been suspended by Arizona when she canceled her Arizona car insurance. You see, when she transferred her
insurance to Oregon, her insurance company reported to the State of Arizona that she had canceled it and they
sent her a letter telling her she had 15 days to re-instate it or they would suspend her license. She didn't get the
letter, and one thing lead to another, and now she has $600 in tickets and a $300 tow bill.
So, learn from my client and transfer your driver's license immediately upon moving here. If you work with me,
I will give you all the paperwork you need to transfer your license to Oregon. If you are thinking of moving to
Oregon and would like to find out more about relocating, then please give me a call, I would love to talk about
your pending move.

I don't plan to move out of state but I imagine it is that way in many states. That's a hefty fine.
