2013 BIG Blog Jumpstart Challenge

Thanks again to all of you who participated in the 2013 BIG Blog Jumpstart Challenge. I am grateful for the opportunity to be part of developing better Blogging techniques on ActiveRain.

Challenge 2012 was an intellectual exercise to learn the philosophy and values of ActiveRain as a community. 2013 focused on SEO and learning how to optimize posts for better Google placement. FOR 2014, the Challenge will be a COMBINATION of understanding the founding philosophy and the values of ActiveRain along with learning about SEO optimization.

2014 will be a following Guidelines year - that is already decided. All dispensation for not following guidelines for an Annual BIG Blog Jumpstart Challenge ends with 2013. Enough said.

For 2014, my goal is to finish scoring in one week, not two weeks as 2013. Clearly, points should come as soon as possible after a Challenge. In 2012, I asked folks to send me links to their qualifying posts. Some entries didn’t even arrive until March! For 2013, I decided to check the links myself and that has proved very, very time-consuming. So, yet another plan for 2014 - right?

2013 POINTS - to be sent to AR Staff on Valentine’s Day. NOTE: I am not certain I got everyone’s BONUS points tallied correctly. If you think I missed some credit due to you, please send me the links to those posts (1,2 or 3) eligible for BONUS points. I will happily correct my mistake and send more points to AR Staff for you!

Thank you for all that you did with this Jumpstart contest. You were extremely generous in trying to help people that came in to the contest a little bit late so that they could get in a better habit. However, I suspect that is contributing to making the scoring a nightmare.

Hopefully most people are like me know that it is done - I'm glad I participated in the contest. If you make a mistake on my points, I'd never say anything to you. The most important thing was developing the habit of blogging regulary.

I confess, I am an ADD fool. Thank you for all of your patience and I know I actually completed the challenge BUT it was not posted in the right group every day. My PC runs slow and I knew adding to that group would have taken me forever.....so it did not happen! I understand that I forfeited the points, but getting me back in the daily habit (or almost daily) was a good new year kick start. Next year I will read every detail!
