Before I get going on this, I must issue a disclaimer on this blog. Yes the top Baseball talk 101 blogs for the month are highly subjective! I am choosing them, in no particular order, that move me or inspire me or highlight a specific area that may generally be overlooked. That said, let's "play ball"

The first (and easies choice) is Debbie Malone's Debbie Malone's Blogs ARE Worth Your Time! blog entitled Take Me Out To The Ballgame! I say that she is the easy choice for a number of reasons. She (and her aforementioned blog) is the inspirationfor the first contest in Baseball Talk 101. Her blog had all the essential elements of a good blog. There were personal memories, places remembered, a sense of pride, and encouragement for us all to enjoy and promote what we have available to us. And of course she tied everything around the baseball theme which was why the group was created! Check out her profile and get to know her and Lynchburg, VA through her very diverse blogs! She also posted another great blog this month that deserves mention: Lynchburg Native and Catcher's Mask Inventor - Frank McIntire

Next up was Nicholas Goglucci Check Out Nicholas' Multifaceted Blogs Here! with his blog "The Pride Of The Yankees" Now I must say off the bat that I am a Braves fan first and foremost. I am NOT a Yankees fan and I like the Mets even less! I know I may get some flack for this but that is okay because I think it is important for people to cheer for a team (regardless of how they are currently performing).  Now I also realize that it may be a little dangerous to put a Red Sox fan, Debbie Malone, anywhere near a Yankees fan, let alone give the Red Sox fan first mention! Nicholas' post is about neither a personal baseball memory nor place. It is a movie review of the biopic on Lou Gehrig. Now Baseball Talk 101 never said that a blog had to be about a personal experience, only that the forum was for:

"A forum designed just for Baseball enthusiast. Whether it be littleleague, highschool, college, minors, or pro, this is the place to get all your baseball talk in. Anything not pertaining to Baseball will be deleted."

and I do believe that this post meets this criteria. I would definitely recommend reading this blog and definitely CLICK on the link http://www.americanrhetoric.com/MovieSpeeches/moviespeechprideoftheyankees.html toward the end of the blog to hear the moving Lou Gehrig speech delivered by Gary Cooper in the movie! While I have never seen this movie, Nicholas' post made me want to go out and rent it! Do yourself a favor and check out Nicholas' profile and learn more about him and his communities of Coconut Creek, Coral Springs, and Parkland, Florida!

And here are some wonderful personal photos that were shared in the 1st contest for Baseball Talk 101:

Rich, great choices. And yes, do yourself a favor and rent the movie. It doesn't matter what team you root for, this is a moving personal story of a man who had a tremendous impact on the history of the game we all love. It's a must see.

John - You got about two and a half days!

Nicholas - You deserve it! From what I hear, great movie. And from what I read, great blog!

Jim - I will definitely rent it. Lou Gehrig is both a baseball and an American icon on the triumph of spirit.

I am so ready for the baseball season...it means spring is here and nothing sound better to me than the crack (not the ping) of a wooden bat!

Team DiMuria - I am ready as well! Is the Ping from cork or aluminum <<<smile>>> IMHO, aluminum is for weekend softball, not the pros. BTW, I really enjoy slow pitch softball, especially as I get older.

Hello Rich - While I don't independently or voluntarily follow sports, baseball is definitely my favorite - and Debbie is fast becoming a favorite of mine here on AR - her post is all you say - reflects her personality.

I loved baseball as a girl and raising 3 boys we hosted Canada Day games at the neighborhood ball park - my boys are great sluggers! I can't throw a ball anymore without shoulder pain, but enjoy watching family games.

Spring is coming - the ball parks will fill again - I guess where you are you can play ball year round?!

Deborah - We do have our definite cold spells, even a couple of good snows (although it barely stays for a day)! We are home to the Atlanta Braves Turner Field - Atlanta! and there is nothing like an afternoon spent at a good game! The food, the sounds, the crowd, the BASEBALL! If you bundle up, you can play most of the year. Thanks for stopping in and commenting! With 3 boys, I will look forward to your baseball blogs! Check out this month's contest HERE!
