Raining In The Sunshine State And My Garden Is Happy!

Yes, it is raining down here in the sunshine state today, it started last night. That is fine since my garden is loving it. I never took out my pepper plants and they are full of buds again. My cukes, cantaloupes, squash, zucchini, lettuce and pole beans are coming up and are already a few inches tall. My eggplant is full of buds and the radishes are ready to eat. I also planted some Russian garlic but won't do that again since it takes so long for garlic to grow and it doesn't like our heat. But the green tops are wonderful in salads while it is growing!!! Naturally, I also have almost two dozen pineapple plants growing and then there is the litchi nut tree.....

So with that information, you know that I appreciate the rains and so do my plants. As for my tomato plants, they are on a small cabinet upstairs, in front of a westerly facing window, where they are nice and warm. I think they will go into the ground in another week or two. All of my herbs are on the balcony, growing within easy reach of the kitchen.

Just one more reason why I love living down here in the Sunshine State!

Barbara-Jo-Sunshine, rain, and warm breezes in the proper proportions usually lead to great things. Glad to hear your garden is thriving in Palm Harbor.

i have been reading that some communities actually do not allow vegetable gardens if they are visible from the street. Government seems to have its message backward.

Sounds like you have a nice salad in the makings. Ours was a much need snow and rain combination. If we get another 12" over the next 30 days our lakes might get close to being full.

Oh my, I can't believe the height of your veggie garden. We lost our garden last summer to the deer wandering around. Do you have any animals enjoying these tasty plants?

Barbara-Jo, that would be so nice to be able to have veggies all year long!   We are expecting 3" of snow tonight.   I did see buds on my rose bushes, they are a bit confused with the warmer weather.

Barbara Jo, I knew you had vegetables but I didn't realize it was to that extent.  Great job. Nothing better than eating a warm tomato fresh from the vine with a touch of sea salt.

Thanks for telling us about your garden.  We had snow last night in Maryland.  We do have a sunny day but nothing is growing in the garden.

Happy Valentine's Day!
