Jawad Laouaouda from Bon Vivant will be cooking a Moroccan specialty, Merguez sausages, during his Chef's Demo. Jawad has been in the food and beverage industry for 22 years. After 11 years at Citronelle, one of DCs finest restaurants, he left to start his own company Mixology and More. During this time, he consulted with start-up restaurants, built custom beverage programs and published his own food and beverage recipe book. After being diagnosed with diabetes, Jawad was inspired to put more time into cooking with healthier, wholesome foods like the ones he grew up with in Morocco. This turned out to be incredibly time consuming, and often impossible to do consistently as an individual. As a result of his exploration into local farm foods, building a business that focused on bringing these naturally produced foods into the urban DC area seemed like a logical step. Bon Vivant was created out of his passion for cooking, healthy fine foods, and a desire to give others the opportunity to easily purchase naturally produced foods whenever they want them.
Farmers will have free-range eggs, lots of varieties of sweet potatoes, grass-fed beef, lamb, poultry, sausage, bacon, and sheep cheese. They’ll also have kale, fresh herbs and collard greens. Spring comes early, thanks to M&M Plants and Plant Masters. You’ll find all kinds of fabulous handmade jewelry, beading, pet tags, and other handmade items in our Artists' Alley. And come hungry ! We’ve got an amazing array of pastries, bread and coffee. Plus enjoy a Vietnamese-style lunch from Dalat Deli.
