Ducky Dock - Birding in Hernando Beach Florida

These two Mallard ducks were settling in on a dock in Hernando Beach, Florida the other day during a rather rainy day.  You can see the raindrops creating rings on the water in the background.  The female on the right looks like she would rather not get her feet wet - or at least not both of them at the same time.

Mallards in Hernando Beach Florida Photo by Silvia Dukes

Mallard ducks are quite common in the Hernando Beach area in both the saltwater and freshwater canals of this waterfront community.

If you are a bird lover and enjoy bird watching, Hernando Beach is home to a many bird species from the smallest hummingbird, to the exotic wild parakeet, and the mundane mallard duck to the majestic bald eagle! You don't have to go far, birding in Hernando Beach, Florida, begins in your own backyard!

Silvia,

This is a wonderful series.  I like this picture also, and this one could also be a painting.  I love the rings on the water, nice photo. A

Silvia, Yes I like to bird watch. You have to stay still to do it and I always seem to be rushing off so I don't get many good shots like this one.

Thanks Alexandra, it just happened this week that ducks were more in front of my lens than anything else!

Judith, he sure does!

Jean, you are right, our lives get very hectic at times so we should cherish all the small moments like this.

Debbie, the nice thing about bird watching is that you can do it anywhere and it doesn't cost a thing!

Hi Silvia,

You are so lucky to live in an area where there is so many animals and birds hanging around. I drive to the beach about 2-3 times a month and so enjoy smelling the sea, taking pictures and just relaxing there. Sunsets are just the best on the ocean too so we usually stay for a light dinner and watch the sun go down.
