Interesting Faces in San Diego #8

Pair of Birds at San Diego Safari Park

Interesting San Diego Faces is a series about the many faces that make up the beauty of San Diego. While I could choose so many notorious citizens that live here, I choose only those that entertain us with their innocence and vibrancy.

San Diego has many faces that are celebrated in the news, my faces are the special ones that touch our hearts in a different way. While it is true that most of the faces I choose are not the human kind, they still touch our lives in magical ways and express the feelings found and shared in our wonderful city.

San Diego obviously has some colorful citizens even the fine feathered kind.  Have a great week.

Hi Than, They are a pair of bald Ibis. I thought they were so cool, I could help but get their portraits.

Hi Jeff, Yes, they are residents of the Zoo. They are Bald Ibis. Guessing they are males with male pattern baldness and scorched red heads from the sun.

Hi Ruthmarie, They do like they are nesting, not sure. The did seem very docile for having such big beaks. Of the others in the Ibis family, these may be the black sheep.

William, the beaks remind me of chopsticks.  I wonder what kind of song sound they make.

I really need to pay the San Diego Zoo another visit.  It was wonderful when I last was there in the 1970s, but the exotic life there, would make another visit special.  Ya gotta just love those colors, William!

Dear Willaim,

I would have never guessed they are in the IBIS family!

By the way, those stingrays that are in aquarium petting tanks have all had their barbs removed so nobody can get hurt. I used to work at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium during the summer months and taught marine biology there.........long story but I learned a lot.

Ah, William, this is more than just "a face only a mother could love"! I actually prefer faces like these....lovely, sweet, being themselves, regardless of whether you photograph them or not. I don't know what they are, but they sure love each other!
