Have you ever locked the lockbox inside the house you were showing?key

Have you dropped the key under the deck?

Were there any doors that you couldn't get locked?

Did you smell gas?

Did you notice the FOR SALE sign is down?

Please inform the listing agent about any of the above right away!  It's only courtesy, and won't take any time at all! Do unto others would be appropriate here, right?

I have a vacant listing that is shown every couple of days. Yesterday an agent called me that there wasn't the bottom of the lockbox attached to get the key!  The key is in the house, on the counter with the container.  I could have solved the problem before her showing.... but I had no way of knowing!

I'm sure, even if it wasn't right at the moment, that agent realized they forgot to do something. It's so in our routine.

A gas odor is often not noticed by the occupants, because they get used to it.  This could be a life saver!

Common curtesy, right Kim. My daughter dropped a key down my sellers deck once. One way to recover it, so we called and they over-nighted one to us.

One thing I hate is listing home where the sellers have moved, and the agent that shows it leaves the lights on.

Kim - This should be common sense or common courtesy, but many agents don't bother to say anything.  Once, I did drop a key through the slats of a deck and I had to go look around underneath (it was pretty far off the ground) until I found it.  More than once, I have taken the bottom of the lockbox with me in the car as I am distracted, then I have to figure out which house it was for.

Kim, great advice. I had a new construction listing where the deadbolt on the front door was not properly installed. I couldn't get into the house without going to the basement and that deadbolt was difficult as well. I notified the builder to get it corrected right away. A lot of agents will move on to the next one if it's too hard to get in. (And I have dropped the key down the floor vent. Thankfully, I have long arms and was able to retrieve it! LOL!)

Excellent advice Kim. An agent I know once flushed the key down the toilet...LOL he did not want to call and tell the listing agent about it.

Kim, once again, it's all about what our parents taught us about manners and the Golden Rule!  I did drop a key between the deck cracks one time, couldn't get the thing to save my life, and wound up having to call the listing agent.  I offered to pay for the key replacement or go pick up the replacement elsewhere.  He said no, that he just appreciated me telling him and not just turning the lock on the door to lock up and leaving!

Kim, All of the Above unfortunately. But it is by helping each other out as professionals that our true colors shine.

Al,
Great Job! I hope others follow your example!

Missy,
Yeah, common courtesy often neglected! Uh oh, Daughter, I bet Mom wasn't too happy.  Yes! So true on the vacant ones!

Jason,
You are right it should be... but... so often its not. After I've locked my keypad & lockbox IN the house myself, I always put it in my pocket now. "..figure out which house its for" lol

Debbie,
Are you Debbie Malone that went to school in Turkey? Same name :)  You are right, too hard to get in and others available - next!

Monika,
OMG down the toilet - what a great toilet, lol.  I can't imagine....

Gary,
Well said!

Debe,
At least you called and offered to help! That's the point here :)

Trey,
Exactly! And it all comes around...

I can't get over how many people have dropped the keys through the deck! I have too (called agent, but couldn't retreive). One of those common things I guess....
