Florence is located in Northeast Omaha, Nebraska on the West bank of the Missouri River. This is the original Omaha. Florence was established as a settlement in 1846-1848 and is best known as the Winter Quarters a temporary frontier settlement for the Mormons. Florence was a real boom town during the Gold Rush days of 1852, with its easy access to the river. There are many homes in Florence that were built during the early 1900's, that are still standing and in beautiful condition. If you love historic homes, you will love this part of Omaha and its rich history.
