Real Estate Education Requirements, state to state

State requirements for real estate education seem to vary a great deal. Some states like Arizona require the agent to take classes in mostly predetermined subject areas. There are 24 classroom hours required every 2 years. Only six hours are agents choice. The rest of the subjects are determined and 3 hours in each area which are..."real estate legal issues", "real estate commissioners rules", "contract law", "disclosure law", "agency law", and "fair housing". The other 6 hours can be on any subject that the department has approved.

I have heard that some states do not dictate what education you get as long as it's real estate related, and you must have certain number of hours. Do you work in such a state? What are their requirements? Many states reqire more hours and some much less. Most states allow online education for prelicensure. Arizona does not. There are no realy good reasons for this other than "that's the way we do it". They approve distance learning for continuing education but not for prelicensure.
