School Report Cards and Property Values

By

Every realtor understands the relationship between property values and school quality. The perceived quality of the schools can influence the value of a property along with the time on the market.  It is a critical factor for parents with school age children who are willing to pay a higher price or accept a smaller home to get their children into the “right” school district.  It is also a factor for those without school age children who are thinking about selling in the future if they anticipate selling to families with school age children.  I think it is foolish of us not to acknowledge the relation between property values and desirable school districts.

There is a website that I found that offers our buyers a lot of information on different school districts throughout Wisconsin.  It can compare the school district in which you are interested in to other school districts in the same athletic conference.  It will give you stats on Achievement tests, ACT testing, attendance figures, drop-out rates, high school completion rates, post high school plans and extra-curricular activities.  So you can compare communities such as Franklin, Oak Creek, West Allis, South Milwaukee, New Berlin, Muskego and all other WI schools with other schools in the same athletic conference.

There is also a “report card” that is given to each school.  Rated on various things, the school is given a rating that varies from “significantly exceeds expectations” all the way down to “meets few expectations.”

Check it out. I know you will find this link useful!

Kevin, That link is a great resource. We have a similar one in my state that I send to buyer's regularly.  Good post.
