Photograph Identifies Kentlands Neighborhood Thief

Dolores and I noticed that the seeds in our bird feeder were going down rather quickly but we had noticed only a few birds this week.  Dolores, with her camera in hand, captured a photograph of the Kentlands neighborhood thief.  A squirrel was enjoying lunch at our bird feeder.

We, of course, are happy to see that our furry neighbors are well fed during the winter months.  You might have the same kind of thief in your community.

Very nice picture Roy, I had a similar problem and no amount of shields could keep them out of the seeds.

Roy, great photo blog. My husband (and partner) learned a long time ago that he couldn't keep the squirrels out of our winter bird feeders.  He now say that we are feeding the birds and the squirrels.  Since we have our real estate biz office in our home, the birds and squirrels are fun to watch.

Your comments are much appreciated.  I just refilled our feeder today.  We have snow and sleet in Kentlands this afternoon so I will use a bright flower in this comment.

We love to watch the squirrels frolic while feasting at our feeders. In fact we encourage them. They're pretty messy eaters and crack seeds that the smaller birds come through and mop it up.

Hi Roy, this is sweet. I am guessing that most of your neighbors wouldn't mind a bit if you keep feeding the squirrels and they spend all their time at your house, :-)

Roy,

What a great shot.  We had a big bird feeder in our yard in Los Angeles, we noticed how the big birds would chase away the little ones, and of course the squirrels had a paw in it too.  In one week, we had gone through a hug bag of seed. It was fun to watch, and tell Dolores, this is a great shot! A

Roy, this is funny...yet not really funny.  They can eat a lot of feed.

Please tell Delores that I liked her picture.  She caught it in the act.  Looking at the picture again....it's amazing how it could balance like that.
