I am trying to get an idea on how everyone feels about companies that train real estate professionals.  It seems like more and more I find companies that are not involved in real estate in any way trying to tell us how to run our businesses.

If you ask me it is like a professor of a college teaching students how to become an entrepreneur when they themselves have never started a business let alone done anything but go to college, get a degree, and started teaching.

I have noticed also how these training companies all seem to teach the same worn out ideas that you can learn from just about any real estate professional that has been in the business for over a year.

I believe in taking advice from those that have seen success and are in the business of what you are trying to accomplish.  Makes sense to me.

What are your thoughts?

Bronson,

I would agree with you. Learn from those who have been successful in real estate before you and follow their lead.

Bronson,

The key is with any real estae training company.

1. They should have trainers that have sold real estate.

2. Have a track record.

3. Train for a Company that has proven results for agents.

The best sales trainers are trainers that have made their mark in real estate. And can prove how well they have done.

I speak and train. But I still sell Real Estate.

Bronson, I agree that the best resource is from someone that has been successful in the industry.  Ideally, your broker would make available some of his best agents to do some short training on building your Real Estate business.  I had to switch brokerages to find a broker that did provide that type of new agent training.  As for outside training, I agree with what Will wrote, only go with those that have a track record of success in Real Estate.

Bronson, Nothing wrong with the professional educators but that is all they can provide. Real world application now that requires experience. The old saying teacher teach because they can not do.

Hi Bronson - We as agents should make the right choices.  If you find the company and its program valuable and think it will help you, go for it!  It not good when agents go from trainer to trainer looking for a magic pill, and... you and I know there isn't one.  So, like in any other industry, just because they are out there offering their training, it doesn't mean their program is right for us.  We are ultimately responsible for our choices.
