So this afternoon, I wrote a blog, Tell the Listing Agent. It's about making sure you notify the listing agent if you notice something (smell of gas) or you lose the key to the house you are showing....

Later this afternoon I was out with Mr and Mrs Buyer.  We saw a few newer homes, then a couple of fantastic historic older style places about 45 minutes away in the country.   Unfortunately, the house was on the only main road to and from town with a sharp curve in sight.

We had just had a couple of days of heavy rain, the ground was wet...

You know how things come back to you.... I didn't want to email and notify the agent.  But I'd just written about how important it was to "come clean" and "do unto others".

There were other small ruts in the makeshift "driveway", we thought their minivan would plow right through to the turn around spot in the back.  It did. Finally.  After leaving some pretty rough looking ruts.  It was either that, or be stuck....

It wouldn't have been appropriate to take my own picture. We weren't laughing. We felt bad for leaving our mark.

I emailed the agent and asked her to apologize to her sellers for all of us.  Of course I get home and fill in Dear Husband with the story of the day.... "If there were three of you, why didn't two of you go out and stop traffic while one of you backed out?"  Duh.

When we were looking for our house (that we live in now), we were looking in a garage and some of the slats broke off the wall.  We were all so shocked we didn't know what to do.  But our realtor immediately called the listing agent and explained what happened.  Turns out, there was dry-rot in the garage so the sellers weren't too upset.  But better to tell than not, I think!

I can remember dropping the house key between the wood slats of the front porch.  With no access to retrieve it, a quick call to the listing agent was required.  It was a house way out in the country, and although I ofered to bring an extra out, the other agent was pretty cool about it.  I felt like a heel!
