Beautiful and Colorful Red Silk Cotton Trees
Yesterday on my way home after showing property, I saw these beautiful and colorful red silk cotton trees along Albee Farm Road in Nokomis Florida. I thought it was a good idea for a post to share them with you all.
The red silk cotton trees are native to Southern and Eastern Asia, and Northern Australia. They like tropical to sub-tropical weather. Mature trees may growth up to 100 feet tall. The leaves will drop in the dry season, and they will bloom between January and April. The beautiful and colorful flowers cluster together and are attractive to birds, honey bees and bumble bees. They may last for about 7 days before falling and covering the ground like a red carpet.
The red silk cotton trees are good for shade in your yard, parks, or as a specimen for their colorful flowers.
