Listening-a very simple concept but one of the hardest habits to perfect

Remember: two ears and one mouth - use them in that proportion!

Listen to what your client is saying and don't assume you know what they are going to say.  You may have really heard it 100 times but it won't take more than an extra minute or two to let them say it their way.  If you assume you know what they are going to say then you will find that you are not listening with full attention and you will miss what they are telling you.

Ask permission to take notes and then do so.  Ask them to repeat themselves if you are not sure what you heard.  You are there to help them achieve a goal with the use of a reverse mortgage and you want to make sure you understand what that goal is.

If you have kids, follow the advise you give them when you ask or tell them to listen to you.

David - You are so right, you can't learn if you aren't listening.  Thanks for commenting on my blog.
