I'm pleased to announce my new website!

I'm looking for some feedback on my newly designed website at http://jhphotos.org/default3.asp - I want to know how you find the ease of use, speediness, and overall layout - what do you think?
I weeded through over 8,000 of my photos to choose the best for my website, so this has been many months in the making!  Thank you for your input and feel free to sign my guestbook!  ;)

Thank you, did it load fast for you and seem easy to use?  Those are the most important things I wanted in my website - the main reason I did the major revamp!

I think it is a great website, it loads fast and is very well done.  Congratulations

nice website and REALLY nice shots.  Would you mind sharing what you use as your primary and secondary lens for the indoor shots?

Very well done.  Appealing visually, easy to navigate, classically simple.  You have done a beautiful job.

Actually, all of my interiors are now done with one lens - my Canon Zoom Lens EF-S 10-22MM.  I have a custom flash system and shoot in full manual mode for the sharpest photos.  I have to practice yoga and pilates to be able to get into the really weird positions I need to be in to get some of these shots!

Thank you for your input everyone, i really appreciate it!  I worked on and changed it around for the past 6 weeks! lol  I finally had to say enough!  Funny, choosing a color scheme was making me crazy!

Jane,

In on e word gorgeous! I love your work and I love the size of your pictures. Bigger is better.

Jane, GREAT job on the lighting.  I am upgrading my flash system (gradually).  I use the Nikon sb-800 system which allows for multiple flash shooting.  I only have one sb800 -but hope te to get 2 or 3 more soon (I think around 6 or 7 would be ideal).  They are a little price at $369.00 a pop - but they are very nice.

Is your flash system Canon?

YEOW! I just read your price - $60.00 for 10 web size shots!

sounds WAY cheap to me.  Like you're giving it away. Is that the going rate?

The site loaded quickly and the photos were great!  You are right that it is annoying when you have to wait forever for the photos to upload.  When visiting a photography website you kind of expect that, so you definately exceeded expectations there!

I think you site is very, very nice and professional looking.  I think people would hire you after viewing.  Professional photography does make a HUGE difference on those interior and outside shots.

Jane, you have some spectatular pictures on there.  I got stuck on your Artistic images and your shots of the ocean remind me of Winslow Homer paintings (my favorite).  Your interior shots are amazing as well.  You'll be busy once this goes live! Good Luck!

Thank you everyone for your feedback - it's very helpful to me!  Glad to know it loads fast for everyone and is easy to navigate.  Thank you so much for the compliments on my photography.  I work hard to get the photo as perfect as possible from the get go so that I have little to no editing!  That helps me get in and out of a house quickly and saves me a lot of time after downloading - I just resize and email and i'm done.  That's why I can keep my prices low.  People who wouldn't normally use a photographer for lower priced houses, now can - and they see how their product stands out amongst the rest, which results in more calls.  I strive to keep my prices low and deliver a quality product!  See?  If price is the reason realtors don't use a photographer - I have to eliminate that reason! ;D

I like your website!  You are a great photographer!  I wish you were in Florence.  Keep up the great work.

I am an amature photographer myself.  And i just what to say that I love your work.  I am looking to bring my photography to a professional level.  Can you go into more detail about the equiptment you use including your custom flash... I am very interested in learning.

Well, you have to have an artistic approach when photographing a room - angles are everything, lighting is important, but you don't want ot lose your depth.  Experiment with various types of diffusers to see what works best for your camera and learn how to use a large on camera flash.  I didn't buy an expensive one, I bought a cheap piece of junk on ebay for $20 - a sunpak - it's easy to use and very effective, and I was able to fit a diffuser on it to work perfectly with my needs!  Lens are extremely important, however you need to learn how to shoot effectively with each lens - otherwise there may be warping in the photo.  I get into some of the oddest positions to take my very best photos.  I also make an effort to make the beds and arrange furniture so it looks desirable to buyers in the photo.
Take some photography classes, first and foremost so that you learn the basics.  There are too many people out there who buy expensive cameras and call theirselves pro, without having a clue what DOF, Av, ISO, AF, WB or A-DEP means! Thats usually your first clue if your photographer is actually a pro or if they do all their editing in photoshop to make a shot look good!
