In the video, I discuss how to begin the relationship process with strangers beginning with a LinkedIn group, and developing these prospects to the point where they become online, and in-person contacts. Some of them may even become clients or referral sources.
Highlights include:
Networking using LinkedIn groups.
Following second level contacts.
Cross-referencing and following those contacts on twitter.
Set up a group circle, and add the LinkedIn group contacts.
Follow their posts, and discussions. Make comments when appropriate.
After you've been able to engage, connect with them on LinkedIn.
Then, ask your new contact if can add him/her to your newsletter. Show them a previous issue.
Finally, contact them to meet for coffee, and discuss how you both can help each other grow your businesses.
It's a process, and it's time consuming, but these steps make it possible to engage a stranger and perhaps even grow the new relationship into a future referral source.
