Reorganization of the California Department of Real Estate
Effective July 1, 2013, the California Department of Real Estate becomes the Bureau of Real Estate under the umbrella of the Department of Consumer Affairs.
This reorganization is all part of the Governor’s plan designed to improve efficiencies within state government. While I am all for improving efficiencies within all government it remains to be seen if the reorganization will, in fact, improve efficiencies within the California state government.
It is reported that the core functions of The Bureau of Real Estate will remain the same as was provided by the Department of Real Estate and consumers will receive the same level of excellent service. The Bureau of Real Estate will assume fiscal and administrative responsibilities which are supposed to eliminate duplicative services.
The enforcement of licensing, legal and subdivision programs will not be affected by the reorganization.
This is all well and good, I suppose. The Governor wants the state to be efficient.
As a San Jose Real Estate Agent / Broker I’d like to see Department of Real Estate Reform which would include:
· Relevant testing material
· Higher testing standards
· Strict enforcement of compliance matters
· Requirement for Brokers to train new agents
· Fines levied on agents who file erroneous complaints
What kind of Department of Real Estate Reform would you like to see?
