Thanks to the City of Port St Lucie for keeping us updated, goodbye Digital Domain Stadium. Hello Old Friend....

The St. Lucie County Board of County Commissioners unanimously approved a naming rights agreement with Tradition Florida to once again rename the spring training home of the New York Mets to Tradition Field.

The New York Mets are celebrating 25 years of spring training in Port St. Lucie. The ballpark, originally known as Thomas J. White Stadium, was named Tradition Field from 2004-2009.

“We are encouraged that the New York Mets were able to reach a deal with Tradition. The arrangement is another positive step forward in furthering our efforts to improve Major League Baseball and its impacts on our community,” said St. Lucie County Commission Chairman Tod Mowery

“We are pleased to have a new partner for the stadium’s naming rights as we look forward to a great season with the New York Mets and our Tradition partners,” added St. Lucie County Commissioner and Tourist Development Council Chairman Chris Dzadovsky. “It’s apparent that the economy is back and this is a great indicator.”

The naming rights will generate additional revenues for both the New York Mets and St. Lucie County. The County, which pays for the debt service and operations of the facility, will receive $75,000 in the first year of the naming-rights agreement, which runs through 2017.

Tradition Field underwent a massive multi-million dollar expansion in 2012. In addition to an upgraded and enhanced scoreboard and video screen, the metal bleacher seating area beside the first base line was converted into traditional seats along with open picnic tables and outdoor bars. A paved walked away and terrace was also added to give guests easier access to the grassy outfield berm.

The Mets will play 18 home games at Tradition Field, located at 525 NW Peacock Blvd., Port St. Lucie.

Season and single tickets for Mets spring training games are on sale now by calling the Tradition Field ticket office at 772-871-2115 or visiting www.Mets.com or www.StLucieMets.com.
