Sheep Invasion at the Sacramento County Landfill?

sheep grazing on hill

The Sacramento County Landfill has a new addition to the hillside; grazing sheep to control the vegetation growth. What a great idea! The sheep get to eat all day, and the County of Sacramento controls the weed growth on the mounds of soil. Sounds like a win-win situation.

Seems to me like a win/win situation at the Sacramento County landfill.  Make for some sheep!

Who doesn't like a win/win situation Roger? The County of Sacramento did good here.

A little common sense from the government? Are you sure this isn't photo shopped?

Don't forget about the benifits of all that 'free' sheep fertilizer, once the smell goes away of course.

Tom,

That is a great idea.  I've seen goats show up in an area to clear brush and stuff but never sheep.  Can't believe how many are there!!

Have a great day!!

DeeDee

PS. I almost called you a few times this week for your tech knowledge and help but it was way too late at night to be bothering you or anyone.

Hi Tom - Yep, those weeds are going to love all that fertilizer - the weeds will flourish and the sheep will multiply to keep up with the food supply. But the wool industry will have a windfall. Nice.

Hey Tom,

It's a good way to keep the grass down. And fertilize as well. I have seen this before and it really woks. Good for them and you.

Have a great day in the Sacramento area.

Best, Clint McKie

Tom, What a fantastic idea. I don't think I have ever seen so many sheep on one hillside. They must really like that grass and vegetation.

Jefferson used sheep to mow his lawn at Monticello.  He laid out the land in such a way that the sheep could not be seen from the porches on the house, and they could not get to the house!  It's an interesting trick of landscaping.  He was so ahead of his time.

If you are ever here we will go and have a home inspection of Monticello and you will be most impressed.
