Ice Fishing is winding up...What now?

Soft water fishing of course.

Time to dig out the ol' rod and reels and repair.

Each reel needs new line.  More trophy fish are lost because of someone being to cheap to spend $5-$10 for new line although they spent over $100 for the rod and real.  It is the line that brings in your catch.

Reels needs to be oiled and greased.

Rods need to have the eyelets checked for abrasions.

Rods need to be checked for loose parts and cracks.

Lures need hooks sharpened.

Tackle boxes need worn out stuff to be discarded or fixed.

Some lures need new skirts.

An inventory of what is left after last year and what you will need this year needs to be done so you can start replacing the needed items.

Time to look at fishing regs to find all the changes.

And we haven't even gotten to the boat yet.  That will be for another day.

Good preparation breeds success!   Same goes for our business!!!

I remember the scenes in "Grumpy Old Men" when they had to get their fishing huts off the ice!  Until then I did not know that world existed!

In my case I have to check my fly line. It didn't see too much action last year, so I'm probably ok. Let's hope for some great spring fishing.

Bill:  Not checking your stuff will just produce more 'one that got away' stories.

I don't like to fish when it is warm, so I can't imagine fishing when you have to cut a hole to get to the water!
