South Pasadena CA - Happy 125th Birthday!
South Pasadena will celebrate its 125th birthday on Saturday, March 2, 2013. The city will its “Quasquicentennial” with many activities ranging from a birthday cake to food trucks, music, a cupcake challenge, a horse-drawn carriage, merry-go-round and much more.
Most of the action will take place in Library Park in front of the community room(1100 block of El Centro Street) from 12 noon until 4PM. Contest winners will be announced for photos submitted by residents as well as school essays and drawing/painting at 1:30PM. There will be a heritage walk at 4PM in front of Gus’s Barbeque Restaurant on Fair Oaks -- come in period costume of the 1880s(or not) and join in. Later at 5PM at the South Pas Historical Museum, a time capsule dedication ceremony will be held and at 6.15PM the costume competition. Starting at 5PM and continuing until 9PM the Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the South Pasadena Art Crawl -- mainly along Mission Street through galleries and stores. Stop in at one of your favorite South Pasadena restuarants.
South Pasadena is the city with the motto “ preserving the past, celebrating the present, reaching for the future”.
