Things To Do In Lakeland Florida - March 2013
I love this time of year the beginning of March, spring is in the air and many events are happening here in Lakeland Florida. I will highlight here my favorite events taking place right now or in the next couple of weeks.
March 1 - First Friday and it is the 4th annual event of the Skyward Festival filled with aviation thrills family style. This is a free event that takes place downtown Lakeland in and around Munn Park. It is one of the most visited free First Friday event in Lakeland.
March 2nd and 3rd - Orange Cup Regatta in its 75th year taking place on Lake Hollingsworth, a family event for the fast and furious. Bring your blankets and folding chairs to sit in the grassy areas surrounding Lake Hollingsworth. About 50 power boats will take a one mile race in different classes. The event will get under way at 8:00 a.m. on March 2nd until dusk. On March 3rd the race will start at noon.
Harrison School for Arts presents “Godspell” Based on the "Gospel According to St. Matthew," and featuring a scintillating score by "Wicked" composer Stephen Schwartz, "Godspell" takes the audience on a journey of building a community using contemporary versions of parables from the Bible. Lakeland Community Theater presents “Hello Dolly” - a musical comedy featuring classic songs such as “It’s only Takes a Moment” and “Hello Dolly”. The show takes place at Lake Mirror through March 17th. For more information please visit: www.lakelandcommunitytheatre.com
March 9 - Spring Obsession, a celebration of garden, art & music. View the many beautiful plants, art pieces and enjoy some great music. Learn about the plants from Master Gardeners, children will enjoy activities, listen to speakers in their fields, learn about Florida friendly landscaping and much more. The event starts at 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. and takes place downtown Munn Park. Please read an article I wrote and pictures I posted by clicking here.
Don’t forget the Farmer’s Market which the event gone from the Peterson Plaza to the Curb of downtown Lakeland every Saturday downtown Lakeland from 8 a.m. - 2 p.m. Live music at the Curb
There are also so many other events taking place in and around Lakeland Florida, such as the Strawberry Festival in Plant City, Bloomin’ Arts Festival in Bartow on March 2 & 3, 2013.
