Three Creative Artwork Ideas for Selling Your Home, Colorado Springs, CO.

Have you ever noticed when you walk into a room, it is the creative touches that make a room memorable? Your core pieces of furniture may establish the functionality of a space, but it is the creativity that makes each room a one of a kind space. Sometimes the most

difficult aspect of creating a beautiful room is finding the inspiration for just those elements. Here are three creative ideas guaranteed to make your room a one of a kind space.

1. High-impact artwork -

find inspiration at sites like Pinterest, Houzz, or Etsy. Make it yourself by taking photos of nature or architecture and blowing them up on canvas at your local retailer. This is one of my signature staging suggestions. Homes with large, cavernous spaces need artwork to scale. Do not place 5 baskets on the wall and call it a day. That creates no impact and just looks busy. Imagine that wall as another window in your home. Take the opportunity to showcase a beautiful grand view. Here’s one I’ve used recently.

This property sits on nearly 1/3 of an acre with mature trees. My selection not only draws your eye up to the architectural features of the room – wood-beamed ceilings – it also reiterates the natural landscape of the home.

2. Vinyl, repositionable poster art –

Cheap, graphic, colorful and very current right now are repositionable poster artwork. Use these fun graphics in areas of your home that this application makes sense (not a high-end living space). Here’s another example from my listing.

This long narrow room has no windows and no closet, so it couldn’t be classified as a bedroom.

We created the idea of a separate media/game room by staging it to appeal to kids and teens as a cool hang-out space.

3. Blackboards –

You see these everywhere at local home retail stores right now. Wall mounted or as an easel. Their application is perfect for entryways, home offices and kitchens. Think outside the box here. Don’t just make a grocery list. This is a great opportunity to get creative with the power of words. Research phrases or quotes that might give a buyer pause.

“Memory points” like these will linger in the minds of buyers and isn’t that the idea?  Your home needs to be memorable. Creative uses of artwork will make an impact.

Looking for more ideas, give me a call. Creating a beautiful home isn’t necessarily about spending lots of money; it is about incorporating creativity, color and personality into a home. Colorado Home Sales LLC and the Front Porch Team are masters at doing exactly that and would love to help you.

Good morning Kim -

Three very good ideas of eye catching and high impact artwork.  In our home we have two pieces of art in the great room that give that wow factor and one in the master bedroom that gets many compliments.  It took a good while to find the perfect pieces to pull the rooms together but it was worth the wait.  Art does matter.

Thank you, Bill. Its a great home with good bones. That always helps!

Hi John. Feel free to come back and post a pic or two. Artwork is hugely personal and if you're staying in your home instead of selling I always like to recommend finding a piece that speaks to you. Your art selections sound perfect.

Edward and Celia, you're welcome and thanks for stopping by.

Thanks, Kathy. I appreciate your comment.

Li, that's exactly right. I put quite a bit of thought about what I use in my staged listings. If I wouldn't use it in my own home, I don't use it in someone else's.

Kim:  Great suggestions!  Love the artwork in each room ... down to the blackboard.  But especially like the idea of hanging the guitars on the wall.  Definitely the perfect space for music lovers or teens ...

BTW... most stagers are now staying away from chalk boards.  Artwork should enrich a space.

Thank you very much, Gene. You never know what type of artwork will strike a chord with a potential buyer. Glad you liked it.

Interesting comment, Liz. I think the power of words can be very impactful as art.
