Don’t Be A Know It All, Stay Calm!

Stay Calm Negotiating Negotiating is an art we have to acquire in real estate when working with buyers, sellers, and salespersons coming across as a pompous know it all can prevent successful decision making; Sometimes it’s best to know less than everybody else. I’ve had my fair share of pompous know it alls and I’m sure I’ve come across as such but I would certainly hope I didn’t.

Well-trained negotiators understand the importance of acting and keeping calm requesting time to consult with Buyers, Sellers, and Broker. Stay calm to prevent fast decision making, don’t create a defensive position from the other side, make sure to check with others before forming an opinion, and keep good notes and refer to them frequently.

The way we conduct ourselves in a negotiation with another real estate salesperson can dramatically affect the outcome. Don’t get frustrated with the other salesperson and lose your cool, sellers want to get the highest price and buyers want to get the lowest price and the agent’s just wants to do their fiduciary to their clients to the best of their ability. When you’re negotiating be sure to understand who you represent and never violate his or her negotiation position by not keeping CALM.

Buyers and Sellers if you or someone you know is considering real estate in the Austin TX area I would welcome the opportunity to consult with you or them about the many real estate options found in our great city and surrounding areas and be your Negotiator.

This is terrific advice, Bob.  Sometimes agents get stuck in "winning" mode and it interfers with the end goal.

Have a good day!

Good morning, Bob -- very wise advice!   Let the other side boast, shout or pontificate -- it's best to remain calm, stay even --- it's typically the better of two approaches to a situation.

Some people become too emotional and it is easy to understand, buying/selling a house can be a huge stress. That's why it is important to work with a real estate professional who knows what you are going through.

I'm sure, that your clients, appreciate your negotiation skills and many years of experience.

Thanks Bob for your DM! I appreciate your help!
