Thats right Connecticut.
Not Portland Maine, or Portland Oregon, or Portland Arkansas, or Portland Colorado, or Portland Illinois, or Portland Indiana, or Portland Michigan, or Portland New York, or Portland North Dakota, or Portland Ohio, or Portland Pennsylvania, or Portland Tennessee, or Portland Texas, or Portland Wisconsin! Portland Connecticut! ::Deep Breath::
Portland has a rich history of diverse industry and New England traditions. The highly-prized building material of brownstone was mined in the fertile quarries of Portland and transported along the river to cities across the east for use in magnificent homes and buildings. Today, many descendants of the first settlers of Portland continue to live and work in town.
Living opportunities in Portland present a pleasant blend of charming country farmhouses, older colonials, apartments, condominiums and new developments. The beautiful natural resources of town provide peaceful and attractive surroundings for these homes.
The public school system of Portland serves the diverse needs of students with a solid academic curriculum and special services for the handicapped and advanced placement pupils. Evening continuing education programs are offered to adult residents.
The sparkling waters and pristine shores of the Connecticut River and a large state forest provide residents with plenty of year-round activities. Swimming, boating, fishing and picnicking are enjoyed along the banks of the river. Thickly wooded forests, town parks and playgrounds offer open air space for youth athletics, tennis, hiking and wildlife study.

I left Connecticut 1987 and never thought about moving back. Then in 1999 I did just that! I often look at Connecticut as the hub on a wheel. We are in between everything. New York City in the west, Boston to the East, go north East to New Hampshire, Vermont. So if you are like me, who likes to visit these places bout would never live there, this is the spot!
Have a great day!
