Looking for something different and exciting to do in Tennessee? Two Summer's ago I had an exciting and very remember-able experience when I took a ride on the "Missionary Ridge Local" Train ride. This Train ride is located in Chattanooga, Tennessee. It lasted about an hour round trip and only cost around $20.00 per person. Seeing the secluded back country and small towns was like going back in time. I loved it and I'm sure you will too. You might want to try these other train rides that are not to far from home.

BIG SOUTH FORK SCENIC RAILWAY

MISSIONARY RIDGE LOCAL

CHICKAMAUGA TURN

HIWASSEE RIVER RAIL ADVENTURE

BLUE RIDGE SCENIC RAILWAY

WHITEWATER VALLEY RAILROAD

I love the picture of the train *choo choo*. Tennesse is about 8 hours away from Louisiana. I went years ago when I was a child. Looks like I should back my bags and plan a get away!

P.S.- I love trains. "The Engine That Could"...SO my favorite book lol

Lindsay. I haven't thought about that book in ages. My Grandmother use to read that to me. Love it

Christina, I grew up around trains and still love them to this day. There are so many wonderful places around the country where you can still take a ride and my favorite is in North Conway NH. Thanks for the post.

Christina - What a wonderful way to enjoy all the gorgeous scenery around you!  I would love to take a train ride like that.  I'd love for my girls to ride a train, too.  I took a week long journey on Amtrack years ago . . .which was really a lot of fun.

That photo is so cool! It's incredible! My mother-in-law likes to take the train when she travels. She likes to meet people and relax and not be in a hurry.

I am going to see if my hubby will take me on a train ride.  This looks neat!  Never done this either!
