Give Those Reblogs a Kick-Getting the Most Out of a Reblog

There are many reasons why someone would want to Reblog a post.  Sometimes you see something that inspires you and you feel it needs to be shared with those who follow you.  Sometimes a post will really speak to something in your particular market and you can Reblog and let your Real Estate Market area get this helpful information as well.  Heck, sometimes you just want to Reblog just to Reblog, but whatever your reason, there are ways to make that Reblog reach further.

Take Bill and Liz Spear's Post Not Everything is on the Internet, for example.  This is an excellent post to Reblog because it gives a great message for consumers and you can tailor it to your market.  We can use the expertise of BLiz here since they have done all the wonderful work for us and make it a little bit of our own, but ensuring we give full credit for the authors.  I know they won't mind.

When you first hit that Reblog button, a section will come up and allow you to write in your own words how this post will benefit whomever is reading it.  Now, this is a "have to" thing.  You cannot just Reblog a post and not put anything in there.  I believe it has to be at least 25 characters...maybe more.

Reblog First Screen

If you are Reblogging a post that will have benefit to your Real Estate area, my suggestion is that you use your key words to describe exactly how this will benefit your readers.  If it's a type of share Reblog, such as a post that another Active Rain Member needs help, then put something that relates to the post.

However, when you hit the ole submit button...it doesn't stop there.  You need to go back and hit that edit button and now here is where you can make that Reblog have further reach and give it more bang for its buck.

Edit Button

Once you hit the edit button, you will notice that the Reblogged post actually has posted to your outside blog (if you have one) and to the Public area and that's about it.  Now, if it's a post that has only to do with an AR member that needs help and doesn't need to be posted to your outside blog, you just uncheck that outside blog post box.

You basically have all of the tools to post this blog anywhere you would a post of your own.  I suggest, along with adding your key words to your area of content, that perhaps you can add your key words to the Title...(don't change the original title, but add to it).

You can also give that Reblog further power by adding it to groups and posting it either to Members Only (although why you would do this, I have no idea) or Public.  You can also post it to the right Active Rain Channel...again, everything you can do to a post that you would have written.

If you give Reblogs a little bit of a kick, it can help you SEO wise and the original poster as well by spreading their content (with some more from you), far and wide.  Oh and of course, you do get a whopping 25 points for doing this.  You also don't get any points for commenters to your Reblogged post.  You can disable comments if you want to force folks to go back to the original poster or not...that's completely up to you.

Happy Reblogging and we will see you in the Rain!
