Tennessee, Drive In Movie Theaters.

Tennessee has several Drive In Movie Theaters. I'm lucky to live close to Sparta, Tennessee where I visit the restored theatre several times a year. The Sparta theater is just like what we remember a drive in movie theatre to be and they serve all the good ole munchies at the canteen. Come spring I'm looking on-line to find out what is playing at the Drive In. Admission is only $5.00 for adults and $2.00 for children. Below you will find all the Tennessee Drive In Movie Theaters.

Christina, you're so lucky! I remember several when I was growing up in Massachusetts, most are gone now, which is a shame. Great photos.

Drive-in movie theaters have become very rare in our neck of the woods. TN is blessed!

Christina - I haven't heard of a drive-in theater in ages.  I didn't think they even existed anymore.  I'll have to find out if Texas has any.

Have a fun-filled week!

Cool post, Christina.  I haven't been to a drive in since God was a small boy.  They wouldn't be all that practical up here, but we used to go when we were in NC.  Great fun!

This is an awesome blog! Thanks for bringing back such wonderful memories. I gre up in Memphis and used to go with the entire family to the Summer Quartet Drive In you mention. When I was a kid there were only two screens now I guess it has actually expanded to four! Thanks!

Here I got an image of it from google earth! The two things that look like baseball fields are the two parking lots facing the theater. The white line in the upper left is one of the screens. It appears that the name might say quartet but there are only two screens! Summer Quartet, Memphis, Tennessee I know I'm kind of a dork but this is awesome!

Love your post. I miss the old drive in theaters. I remember going to them as a little girl.

Oh this brings back memories. @Meg, in all of my travels of the backroads of Texas I have not found a working one, but I was told that a drive-in was being restored in the Dallas area.

To Frank: There is a drive in theater in Granbury on Pearl St.

Thank you Linda. Now I have a reason to drive up that way. Usually I take the 90 towards the hill country, but I wanted to head back up towards Palestine and Rush again this year.

Christina,  I miss drive in theatres BIG TIME.  We used to have one here, but it closed about 10 years ago.  BUMMER.  It was so much fun on a summer night.  Maybe someday I'll open one up again :)

Christina, I believe we may have one or two drive-in theaters left here in the Northern Virginia area, though I can truly say I've never been to one in my life.  Lately, I prefer the comfort of my home and Netflix to even going out to the movie theater.  Less money, you can pause the movie, no cell phones going off, and healthy air popped popcorn.

This is great. Thanks Christina

Christina, do they allow local advertising at the drive-ins?  Maybe you could do one larger than life virtual tour on the big screen!
