I had never heard of this either, my client care coordinator e-mailed it to me. I have been having some health struggles in my life lately, and it was very sweet of her. I am very blessed to have a great team to work with at my company, Liz Carter & Team Realty, in Katy Texas. We are very different than the traditional Real Estate company in that it is just us, so we are very small and depend on each other for a lot more than just our Real Estate job. There are nice people on my team which is the company, and I don't sponsor other agents, so we really just have each other, with very little outside daily socializing with other Realtors. The other blessing I have is that of the nine people on my team/company five are family :)...I have three generations working together. It does have it's difficulties, but those are far outweighed by the loyalty and love we share.
The thing about the picture part of this that stuck in my mind is it represents to me, "There is a time to liveand a time to die, a time to be born and a time to leave...so make the moments in-between really mean something!" Do worthwhile things, be gentler, and kind to yourselves and others. We only have one chance, that we know of to get it right. One of my new affirmations in the morning is just that, "Today I will be kind, gentle, and forgiving with myself and others."I wish you all on active rain many blessings in 2008, Liz.
Five Finger Prayer
This is so neat. I had never heard this before. This is beautiful - and it is surely worth making the 5 finger prayer a part of our lives
1. Your thumbis nearest you. So begin your prayers by praying for those closest to you. They are the easiest to remember. To pray for our loved ones is, as C. S. Lewis once said, a "sweet duty."
2. The next fingeris the pointing finger. Pray for those who teach, instruct and heal. This includes teachers, doctors, and ministers. They need support and wisdom in pointing others in the right direction. Keep them in your prayers.
3. The next finger is the tallest finger. It reminds us of our leaders. Pray for the president, leaders in business and industry, and administrators. These people shape our nation and guide public opinion. They need God's guidance.
4. The fourth finger is our ring finger. Surprising to many is the fact that this is our weakest finger, as any piano teacher will testify. It should remind us to pray for those who are weak, in trouble or in pain. They need your prayers day and night! You cannot pray too much for them.
5. And lastly comes our little finger - the smallest finger of all which is where we should place ourselves in relation to God and others. As the Bible says, "The least shall be the greatest among you." Your pinkie should remind you to pray for yourself. By the time you have prayed for the other four groups, your own needs will be put into proper perspective and you will be able to pray for yourself more effectively.
Chelseais my client care coordinated, she is the 3rd from the right back row. I am on the chair, on my left is my niece, Nina, to my right is Sandieher daughter (and the third generation of the team. Back row, from right to left is Sandra, my sister (Nina's mom), Jean, Chelsea, Billmy husband, Monday, and on the end my other niece Denise. She and Nina are sisters of course. Since I unfortunately was unable to have children of my own they are more like my daughters and granddaughter. Sandra and I are the only siblings, so we are a small very close family, that also happen to work together :) at Liz Carter & Team Realty. You can see more family and lots of great information about my market, which is the greater west side of HoustonTexas, Katy, (were my office is), Sugar Land, and areas west, on my web site, www.lizcarter.com.

I will remember the five finger prayer. Thanks for sharing Liz, I can see you have a wonderfull team!
Liz - Thanks for sharing, you have a lovely family, you are lucky to have them around you. I am reading a post a day from each that I am subscribed to, (my Feb almost New Years resolution) that is why I subscribed, duh! However, I can't get the picture to open! IQ test? I failed, help. -Virginia
Liz - the first 2 in your blog, something to do with the hands? I see a square with the little red x, I right click, click on open picture and nothing. I am starting to feel stupid here!
Which group are you in? You had me worried so I went to the group, Positive Attitude For the Weary Soul, and it opend right up, go there and try it, and please let me know. Also try hitting your refreash button. L
Thank you for the great reminder. I believe that prayer does as much for the pray-er, as it does for the pray-ee. I look forward to getting to know you!
Liz - I am on my husband's computer and can't get it here either, I must be the only one or you would have heard about it. I just don't get it, never had this problem before. I see the bottom picture.
Right click, get show picture, no save or email, properties gives dimentions, but everything else "Not Available" Is everyone else seeing the pictures? If you log off do you see them? Your blogs are always so technology-correct, it has to be my problem. ????? Virginia
Hi Jeff, so sorry...they are now on, not sure what happened, Margaret Rome from Maryland called and told me, so it is fixed. Liz
Laurie, so sorry to you also, please go have a look at the picture it really makes the prayer make sense and the meaning it invoked to me. Liz
Virginia my friend, bet you are glad to know you are not crazy...sorry you had to go through all that, but hope you like the picture now that it is on AR. Liz
Margaret Rome, what can I say...you are awesome! Thank you so much for taking your time to pick up the phone and call me about the picture. Liz
I know, I fell in love with it too! I thought I said in my post, my team mate sent it to me. I've been having some health issues so it made it even more special. Just looking at th "old" hands, cupping the "baby" hands, just takes my mind in so many different directions, we could have a long talk about the meaning of LIFE just from this picture. So you can see how distressed I was when I found out the pictures were showing up on my computer, but did not go through to AR (see comments above). Fixed now so all is good. Liz
Liz - Got the pictures, beautiful. Thank you for the phone call confirming my sanity. I would say you are in the #2 category, I will say a thank you prayer for you. I subscribed a while ago, but I didn't know about the association, will do that, too. -Virginia
Ohooo...BIG HUG :) I could use your prayers for sure, I found out I have some major health issues that I'm going to have to deal with. Take care and stay in touch. L
Liz, I have always loved that scripture in Ecclesiastics and it was a very beautiful prayer. It sounds like you have a wonderful team. The only way I would ever consider a team was if it was family but my family doesn't live here.
Thanks Lola, I'm glad you enjoyed it, I know I did when I first saw the picture it was like WOW. Liz
Hi Marchel, my new superstar friend. I didn't realize it was a scripture from the bible, makes it even more special. So when do you have time to fit all this in? Now I find out you are well versed in the Bible too :). Working with family has its ups and downs, just like everything, but it works out great for us. Sandie who is like my granddaughter will take over Liz Carter & Team Realty one of these days, so it's pretty cool to think of her selling to 3rd and 4th generations of buyers and sellers of my past clients after I'm gone...which I hope is a long time. L
Hi Jason, I've been using it to remember who to pray for and to remember to pray for me to :). It also reminds you to just pray, or talk to God, however you want to put it, as much as possible. It certainly helps me. Here's a picture of my "baby", Rhett Butler. Chow, Liz
Liz, what a wonderful prayer. Liz, it sounds like you have a great group of people that you are working with. I'll be praying that your good health will quickly return. And, your "baby" is soooo cute. Is he a toy poodle. The picture makes me think that maybe it is time for my poodle puppy to get his first "real" haircut. Grace and peace,
Hi Sondra, yes I liked it too, hopefully will help me remember to pray more and include myself :). It is nice to work with family, we are very small and very close. My great great niece (like my granddaughter) has been with me since she was 17, straight out of high school. I was worried but it turned out to be a great decision on her part, and has been a true blessing for me. She will sell close to 100 homes, just her part on the team this year at 26 years old! Your prayers would truly be appreciate. Rhett is a miniature and weighs about 11 pounds. Of course he is the love of my life and getting older too, he is 12 now, but still in great health. That fist haircut is traumatic, when I went to pick him up it was like, where's my fluffy little baby? Talk to you soon, Liz
