Vogel State Park in Blairsville, GA
is one of our favorite places to visit!
Vogel State Park in Blairsville, GA is one of our favorite places to visit. Whether you’re wanting to picnic, hike, camp or just walk around the lake, Vogel State Park is the perfect place for the whole family to visit. We wanted to share some photos from our most recent visit out to Vogel State Park with you...
Located at the base of Blood Mountain in the Chattahoochee National Forest. Like all of our surrounding mountain areas, Vogel State Park is always popular during the fall when the Blue Ridge Mountains transform into a vibrant covering of red, yellow and gold leaves.
Hikers can choose from a variety of trails, including the popular 4-mile Bear Hair Gap loop, an easy lake loop that leads to Trahlyta Falls on Wolf Creek, and there is always the challenging 13-mile Coosa Backcountry Trail.
Cottages, campsites and primitive backpacking sites provide a range of overnight accommodations for the perfect place to say and see all the surrounding sites and things to do in north GA. We are even having our grand daughter, Notla Brielle’s first birthday party at one of the many outdoor pavilions and staying in a cabin making it a weekend getaway and celebration.
The park’s 22-acre lake is open to non-motorized boats and fishing. Summer visitors can also cool off at the mountain-view beach. This park is also rich in history, with many facilities being constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corp during our nation’s Great Depression. The “CCC Boys” story is told in the park’s museum and one stop you don’t want to miss while there.
This is just another one of the many great Things To Do in Blairsville GA mountains!
