Happy 101st birthday to Oreo cookies! Who hasn't grown up with Oreo cookies? Who can possibly not love Oreo cookies? I'm not a big lover of cookies, but I must admit it's hard for me to turn down an Oreo!
Did you know that the first Oreo cookie was sold on March 6th, 1912 in Hoboken, New Jersey? Did you know that when Oreos were first introduced they also came in a lemon meringue filling? And did you know that today over 70 million Oreo cookies are sold every single day? Did you know it's the best selling cookie of the 20th Century and that over and that over 362 BILLION Oreo cookies have been sold in the past 101 years? And did you know that today there are over 25 different kinds of Oreo cookies? (Although, I'm not sure anyone really knows how many different types there are... there's all sorts of chatter on the internet by people trying to identify all the different types.)
Nabisco has an entire page devoted to information about Oreo cookies. It's quite fun to visit and includes a great video about an Oreo cookie fight:
In honor of the Oreo cookie's birthday, here's a link to a great recipe for an Oreo Cookie Cake (yum!). And if you link onto this page, you'll find lots of additional recipes and ideas on how to use the Oreo cookie.
So nothing serious in this post... just an excuse to go out and eat a few Oreos (forget about those calories today!). Maybe even drop off a few Oreos to your best clients and reconnect with them. Happy 101st birthday Oreo Cookies!
