Catonsville is sometimes called "Music City" and one of the reasons is the Bill's Music store on Frederick Road in the heart of Catonsville. The Frederick Road Fridays outdoor summer concert series takes place just down the street from the store and it couldn't be more appropriate! (They sponsor this event through the Greater Catonsville Chamber of Commerce)

This store is an institution - Bill Higgins started it in 1965 by giving guitar lessons in a room the size of a closet. He and his family still own and operate the store but guitars are clearly his main love.
You see it when you enter the store - acoustic guitars take up the a big part of the right side - the electric and bass guitar section runs through the middle. Every guitar you see is more gorgeous than the last - and there are instruments at every price range.  Bill's sells new and used equipment and is a favorite haunt for local and sometimes national bands and music groups.  The store rents musical instruments to schools and individuals and offers on site classes to hundreds of budding musicians (adults and kids).  Need your instrument fixed - they do that too of course.

We love to check out all the drums - bongos, hand held, drum sets - you name it and Bill's has it.  It's seriously like a musical playground - you can spend an hour walking around and not see half their stuff.  In the back are the keyboards, synthesizers, amps, etc.  Need sheet music and books - plan to stay a while!

This store is just another reason I love living in Catonsville - locally owned and operated with love!
