Good Photos Not To Be Underestimated When Selling Your Home

We’ve all heard that a picture is worth a thousand words.  Nowadays, home buyers are starting their search for homes on the internet long before they even get in the car, and the vast majority tends to discount any homes with bad pictures.

So what counts as ‘bad pictures’? We’ve all seen them: photos of a room that’s overly cluttered or dirty, photos that are at a 45 degree angle, or even ones that attempt to take a picture of the whole room and only end up with a section of the ceiling.  That isn’t even counting homes that don’t have any pictures (it still happens!) or maybe one grainy photo of the front. Quality of photos is much more important than quantity, as homes with lots of bad pictures are just as bad as ones without any!

In our virtual world, uploading pictures can be done with ease.  Most buyers know this, and are leery of homes that either don’t have any or are missing most of the interior. The first thing that goes through their minds is that the seller is hiding something that, if shown, would impact the sale of their home.  So, if there’s something wrong, why bother going to see it in person?

Remember, your home is held “open” 24-7 on the internet. If the photos of your home don’t entice a prospective buyer or buyer’s agent, chances are they will never set foot in your home.  A Seattle based real estate brokerage and research firm, Redfin, recently did a study that showed that homes with good photos sold faster and closer to list price than ones that didn’t.
