Living Lake Livingston

I love Living on Lake Livingston. Actually, we sold our home that was located on a cove and purchased land that sits directly on the Trinity River.
Lake Livingston is owned and operated by the Trinity River Authority and its main purpose is to provide water. As lake lovers, I am thrilled to say that the majority of the time, Lake Livingston is not serving it’s main purpose. Instead, we are enjoying the recreational benefits of the lake.

Fishing is great on Lake Livingston with an abundant supply of catfish and white bass, lots of crappie and striped bass, and you can even find big mouth bass if you know where they like to hang out!
Water sports enthusiasts enjoy skiing, tubing, and wakeboarding Lake Livingston. As a matter of fact, the Gulf Coast Wakeboarding Association visits Riverside, Texas twice a year for annual skiing events, and we look forward to them coming. The Trinity River offers miles of great skiing and jetskiing.

According to the Trinity River Authority, Lake Livingston covers 83,000 surface acres. This does not surprise me, considering it is located in FOUR counties: Polk, San Jacinto, Trinity, and Walker.
Lake Livingston has 450 miles of shoreline! Can you imagine showing waterfront properties on Lake Livingston? Sometimes it can take many days, and hundreds of miles to find the perfect waterfront home for a particular family. So planning a Sunday afternoon drive to check out Lake Livingston is probably not a great idea. You could end up more frustrated that educated.

Tammie: Most of the time we can narrow down where they want to be one the lake. But when we can't... it is a LOT of homes to show. Even just going from Walker County to Trintiy County (7 miles apart) can end up being quite a drive depending on where the homes are on the lake. There is no short cuts across the water. You always have to drive AROUND the water. HA!
Julissa: I love you!! ♥
Wanda: Come on over! I'll take you fishing!! :)
Myrl: I have a pillow that says, "Heaven seems a little closer in a house beside the water." :)
Joni, Congrats on the feature and I had no idea Lake Livingston was that large. I have only been there once all the years I have lived in this area.
Joni- I love Lake Livingston. Larry and I have fished there and spent a lot of time on Lake Conroe as well. Good local post.
Joni,
Such a beautifully written blog post about a beautiful area. I love being on the water.. just wish there was more free time to do that!
Joni, I would definitely call you for any lake property on Lake Livingston. You are the expert in Huntsville TX.
Joni I have always wanted a waterfront home. Someday I hope to make that a reality, and Lake Livingston sounds like a great place to own a waterfront home in.
Bob: There's lots of neat places to stay. It would make a lovely weekend getaway for you and Yolanda!
Kathy: I'm trying to envision that gorgeous girl that I saw holding the Oscar, with a fishing pole in her hand. It's hard!! HA! Just kidding! :)))
Judi: We are looking forward to spending a week near YOU on the water. Beaver Creek in in our near future!!
Thank you, Debbie! I feel the same way about you, my friend!!
George: We just love it. COME ON DOWN! Then YOU can be one of my trusted lenders!! :)))
Rob: You would feel right at home, minus the mountains! HA!! Lots of barns and very COUNTRY!
Joni, next time when I visit Texas, I want to make sure I visit Lake Livingston Lady, Joni Staples...

Congratulations in being in the top 3 of the Best Movie Awards!! And on that note - buyers and sellers for the Lake Livingston area need to contact you for expert real estate guidance!
Hi Joni,
Congrats on a great feature. Because of you, so many people will come to know, appreciate and love what you love too!
Also, congratulations on being in the top 3 of the Best Movie Award too! I was rooting for you and your lovey mom. I think of you and her fondly and wish all good things and many of God's choicest blessings.
Because of your relationship with your mom, you have touched the hearts and souls of many. I see a published book (or real Movie) in your future. For now, you're living the part.
Joni: This is absolutely perfect. I really love the view shown in the first photo, but all the photos look great. How great to be right on the Trinity River. And wow, over 450 miles of shoreline. It must be incredibly peaceful.
I wonder if you could recommend a good restaurant that whips up a delicious catfish dinner... or actually any or all of the types of fish you rattled off? If it's close to I-45... or even between 45 and Lake Livingston, I could probably talk myself into driving down for lunch or dinner some day. Yum!
I don't know where Lake Livingston is in Texas, but living on any good sized body of water makes life better!
Joni, had no idea Lake Livingston was so LARGE! I know you love the area, and it definitely shows in your blogs! Well deserve gold star!
Joy: Why thank you!! :) I was just excited to have finally though of something to enter. Last year I could not think of anything to save my life! HA!
Thank you, Patricia. No books or movies in my future. I'm just happy for the time we have now and that I know for a fact I will never really lose her, or her me. We both know where we are going! :)
Nick: Thank you. I shot that from our property.
Karen: MY FAVORITE restaurant, which has been around since we moved here in 1994, just closed. It sat right on the Trinity River and had WONDERFUL grilled or fried catfish. We do have other restaurants, but that one was my favorite on the water. I am in search of a new one now. :(
Wika: Thank you! Each of the photos were actually taken in Riverside. I should have put some taken in Trinity and San Jacinto counties as well. Rarely do I go to Polk county.
Barbara-Jo: We are about an hour and a half from Houston. The perfect weekend getaway!
Joan: This lake has such a different feel from Lake Conroe. I suppose that the Livingston end of the Lake might feel more like Conroe, but that is one of the reasons we picked the northern end of the lake. It's nice and quiet, and laid back!! :)
Sounds like a lovely place to live and work, Joni!
