moving to south pasadenaMoving to South Pasadena means joining a small town with a big sense of community. With a population of just over 25,000 – and a history of once being a part of Pasadena – this city has worked to cultivate its own identity in the San Gabriel Valley.

Like Pasadena, South Pasadena is known for its historic Craftasman-style homes. But a revival of Art Deco styles of 1900 to 1939 can also be found among the tree-lined neighborhoods, and even some Victorian-era properties can be seen around time. The city has plenty of historical influences: The city center and business district around Mission Street and Meridian Avenue are on the National Register of Historic Places.

South Pasadena’s amenities

moving to south pasadenaThough it’s a small town, South Pasadena has its share of amenities. A shopping and dining district on Mission Street offers small stores, unique boutiques, eateries and hangouts for young residents. The famed Fair Oaks Pharmacy, open since the early 1900s, will serve up old-fashioned ice cream. Or enjoy the delectable desserts at My Sweet Cupcake, a winner in the Food Network’s “Cupcake Wars.”  Mission Tile West, in South Pasadena, will also impress you with its original handcrafted ceramics, terra cottas and stones.

Entertainment can be found at the Fremont Centre Theatre, the historic Rialto Theater (one of the last single-screen cinemas in the nation) or outside in Garfield Park, which offers live music in the summer, or at Arroyo Seco Golf Course.
