When is Daylight Saving Time for 2013-Eastvale CA?
When does Daylight Saving Time starts in 2013?
It usually starts on the second Sunday of March and it ends on the first Sunday of November. The clock change occurs at 2am on Sunday, March 10th 2013. The concession is that 2am in the morning is the time that is least disruptive time of the day to change time. So remember, to move your clock ahead by one hour at 2am this Sunday. This weekend, we will be losing one hour of sleep.
Do all states observe the daylight saving time?
NO. All states do no observe the daylight saving time. Hawaii, Arizona, and some of U.S. Territories such as American Samoa, Guam, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands don't observe the daylight saving time. Daylight saving time is not mandatory.
Why do we have daylight saving time?
It falls under the premises that with more daylight during the day, one is able to conserved electricity.
What is the history behind daylight saving time?
Benjamin Franklin was the first one to discuss about the daylight saving time during 1784 when he wrote the essay "An economical project for diminishing the cost of light." The idea was not implemented until Word War I to conserve energy. It was however repealed after the war. Afterward, it was brought back during WWII. Each state had the privilege of deciding if they wanted and when to implement daylight saving time. Congress enacted the Uniform Time Act of 1966 that standardized the daylight saving time.
Is daylight saving time really conserving electricity?
The benefit of energy conservation is so minimal in our modern day that there is now an outcry to abolish daylight saving time. The inconvenience of changing the time twice a year far outweighs the benefits.
What are some of the reasons discussed to abolish the daylight saving time?
Time changes affect people’s body clock and social activities. That one hour change does affect some people's health, mood and sleep pattern. Some have shown signs of drowsiness, headache and additional stress from losing that one extra hour of sleep. Did you know that there is more frequent heart attack incidences during the first 3 weeks after we transition to the daylight saving time? A study came out from Australia, where data were taken from 1971 to 2001, showing that more incidences of male suicide rates rose in the weeks following the daylight saving time. This seems to indicate that the one hour forward does affect our biological clock in more ways than one.
Another reason, is that the extra one hour of daylight gained in the afternoon is taken away from the daylight we currently have in the morning. The premises for daylight savings was to save on energy, however, with our modern technology and energy efficient resources, there is very minimal if any of the electrical savings by daylight saving changes.
What do you think of the daylight saving time? Should it be abolished or is there a benefit to daylight saving.
