Billy's Tarpon Turtle Restaurant in Tarpon Springs Florida was my destination for lunch yesterday and it was an excellent choice. While it was a cool 72 degrees and still sweater weather, the sun was out and even the gators were enjoying the weather.

I had the conch fritters and lobster bisque soup while my friend, Alice, had the shrimp and spinach salad. Everything was wonderful, as always. Billy's Tarpon Turtle changed owners last year and the food can't be beat!

As for the surroundings, we sat outside on Lake Tarpon, watching boats come and go as people docked for lunch.

The great blue heron and the two baby gators (4 to 5 ft in length are still babies) eyed each other constantly. Every now and then the gators made a half-hearted attempt to go for the heron and the heron just walked away. If the gators had wanted to, they could have jumped and gotten the bird.

I did feed the heron some bread until the gators starting attempting to get it. I was amazed to see them going after BREAD. It was because the birds wanted it. Since when do gators eat bread?????
