Things you find in vacant houses

While out visiting various foreclosure and abandoned houses you come across all types of interesting things.  Some crazy and some kind of cool things.  This is going to be an ongoing series of various photos of things that I find while on the foreclosure road.

The first photo is actually in the vacant lot next door to an REO bank owned property that I manage.  The vacant lot backs up to a spring-fed creek that eventually flows into the Wekiva River.  There were actually 3 deer in the photo but one ran off camera.  There have been days where I saw as many as 7 deer at once.  This is in the middle of a residential neighborhood with hundreds of houses nearby and not out in the country.

The second photo is on a skipped out tenant.  They actually left it in fairly decent condition compared to many of these losers.  Tenant was 6 weeks behind on rent and got all upset that I dare ask her and her live-in boyfriend (who she moved in after the lease was signed and I later found out was a registered sex offender) to pay or move out.  I told her she better come back and clean this up unless she wanted her case turned over to collections.  She ignored me, so now she gets to curse my name for the next 7 years as she has a collection on her credit report until the year 2019.

The third photo was on the screened porch of a foreclosure house I manage.  It is a dead fruit bat.  I nicknamed him "flatman" because he is kind of squashed.

Stay tuned for more interesting stuff that comes up. I have a few videos as well that I will be posting.

Yep but they put on the "show" and smiley face when they met you. Its sad that some people care less about anyone or anything other than themselves, glad that isn't the case for the majority

Sorry about your tenant.  But, from the mayhem I've seen as an inspector, it could have been a lot worse.

Seriously.

After all, they left you your plumbing!

Silver lining on an otherwise depressing day... better luck with the next one.

Yes we find all kinds of things, but as long as it isn't someone there when we thought it was totally empty we will be doing OK.

I look forward to your next installment

Rob -- thanks for the photos, especially like the first one.  Too bad the bat got trapped inside.

The things people leave behind when the get foreclosed on or evicted is amazing. Junk, trash and money. Toys, food and bath products. TVs, cars, trailers, furniture, etc.

And there are the people who take the light fixtures, dishwasher and stove, punch holes in walls and obviously never clened or vacuumed for how ever long they were in the home.

Occasionally you find something good in these places but most of the time it is just endless junk.  I am amazed how some people actually live.  In my next series of this, I will be posting the video of my "hoarder house".  You can watch it on our YouTube channel now.  It is something else.

Interesting photos, Rob!

I've been to Wekiva Springs (and Rock Springs).   What a beautiful part of Florida!

Rob, great topic to post on.  Many people never get to see the stuff you do, so thanks for sharing what happens in your travels.  BTW I especially like the deer photo.  Over by Wekiva there is so much protected habitat and I'm very glad it is that way...Natural Florida.

Rob, ick to the fruitbat!  And I'm really glad that there are landlords out there who send information on landlord abuse to the credit reporting agencies.
