Big Bear Lake Winters

What a winter we are having. It just keeps snowing up here in beautiful Big Bear. It seems like I get my house shoveled out and WHAM, another storm. We have doubled our average snowfall every month this winter. If it keeps up at this pace, it is going to be really good for the valley. We depend on the winters to keep the lake full and the trees healthy. A good winter is also very important in keeping wildfire risk at a minimum. My hope for the Spring is to see a lake brimming to the top with clear, clean water from all the snow run off. And, I might add, a whole bunch of people enjoying all that Big Bear has to offer.

We are, in every sense of the word, a four season resort. As fun as it is to ski in the winter, it's just as much fun to go boating, fishing, and hiking in the summer. We have numerous trails and back roads for 4X4's and hiker's alike. The sport of mountain biking has really taken off up here, and who can blame them? Big Bear, for my money, is the best place to ride a bike in all of Southern California. No matter what sort of activities you enjoy, this is the place to indulge them. Even if it is just sitting by the fire and enjoying the company of family and friends, Big Bear Lake is the premier resort destination of Southern California. See you on the slopes.

All that global warming is causing it to snow.

Israel,

I love the big bear area.  It is so nice to be able to drive locally to enjoy the snow!

Again, I can relate to your Winter experiences.  Lake Arrowhead is about 1.5 feet below capacity - one more good storm and it should be completely full!  The Winter we've been having reminds me of the Winter's here while I was growing up - a good old-fashioned snow season!

Yes. It is so nice to have a good winter. It is the remedy for what ails us.
